L. Jean Richardson

DANVILLE- Laura Jean Richardson, 54, of Chapel Rd., died Thursday July 11, 2013 at her residence following a nearly two year battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 10, 1959 in Wooster to William Wayne and Barbara Ann (Mechling) Stumbaugh. She was a 1977 graduate of Danville High School, and received an Associate’s Degree from Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis, IN as a diesel mechanic. She was also a certified airplane inspection authorization mechanic and an aircraft & power plant inspector. She was a former employee of Columbia Gas, the Ariel Corporation, and Kinder Morgan Energy. In her younger years, she built engines for pull tractors, drag cars, and stock cars. She used to race the Ford #66 stock car at Lakeville Raceway. She loved anything mechanical, but also loved children and animals, especially cats. She was a member of the Greer Wesleyan Church, where she served as a Youth Leader.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, James Richardson of Danville, whom she married on May 8, 1982. Also surviving is her mother, Barbara Stumbaugh of Danville, two daughters; Deeanna (Ben) Corder of Dover, and Jessica (Charles) Martin of Wooster, two grandchildren; Aiden Corder & Laura Martin, a brother, William H. Stumbaugh of Danville, two aunts; Ruth Garnes of Glenmont, and Delores Loomis of Massillon, and an uncle, Dick Stumbaugh of Wooster.

She is preceded in death by her father, William Wayne Stumbaugh, a son, Daniel Richardson, a sister and her husband, Christina & Terry Davis, and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, James A. and Nellie Richardson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday July 15, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Don Hosier officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday July 14th, and also one hour prior to service time on Monday at the funeral home.
