Caroline Mickley

Mount Vernon - Caroline A. (Lorenzen) Mickley, 89, formerly of Howard, died Monday April 17, 2017 at Brookdale of Mt. Vernon.

She was born October 8, 1927 to the late Louis H. and Josephine O. (Pierce) Lorenzen in North Royalton. She graduated from Lodi High School in 1947 and attended Mt. Union College where she studied music.  On February 19, 1949 she married her late husband Rodney Mickley and they purchased a farm in Howard Township where she worked alongside her husband until they retired. Caroline was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville where she sang and directed the choir.

She is survived by her six sons, Frederick (Linda), Jerald (Elizabeth), Leonard (Sandra), Carl (Kay), Larry, and Ronald (Michelle) Mickley, five daughters, Christine (Robert) Pitts, Mary (Timothy) Payne, Teresa Hendon, Ellen (Thomas) Bratton, and Margaret (Randy) Ford, 37 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and three sisters, Ida (Mort) Wolff, Lois (Tom) Cook and Jean (Dan) Reynolds.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and three grandchildren.

Caroline passed on to her family a strong work ethic, a belief in the value of education, service to her church, and a love of family, cooking, sewing, reading, music and card playing.  She was an avid Danville Blue Devil, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 22, 2017 at St. Luke Church, 307 N. Market St. Danville, 43014. Father Vincent Nguyen will officiate, with interment following in St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 6-8:00 P.M, with a prayer service to follow, and from 9:30 until service time on Saturday.
