Welcome to the memorial page for

Melissa D. Burson

December 29, 1968 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 49)

FRESNO- Melissa Dawn (Kent) Burson, 49, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at her residence.

She was born Dec. 29, 1968 in Coshocton to Karl L. and Carolyn Sue (Flowers) Kent. She was a 1987 graduate of River View High School and the Coshocton Co. Career Center. She worked in accounting for Park National Bank in Mt. Vernon and Newark for over 30 years. She was a long-time volunteer for Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Mt. Vernon and Coshocton.

Melissa was such a kind hearted person. She gave herself to helping others, from mission trips to cookie sales for fundraising, she was always willing to help people in-need. She had a love for children like no other! The children she taught at church, who lovingly called her “Miss Lissa”, were just as precious to her as her own blood children and grandchildren whom she loved more than life itself. A void has been made that no one will ever be able to fill.

Her love for Jesus and her passion for the advancement of the Kingdom of God were evident to those who knew her. Although she will be deeply missed, we can rejoice knowing that she is now with her Savior.

She is survived by her husband, Rich Burson of Fresno, whom she married May 31, 2003; a son, Christopher (Amanda) Kent of Crestview, FL; two grandchildren, Taylin & Weston Kent; her mother, Carolyn Sue Kent of Coshocton; two brothers, Doug (Lisa) Kent of Fresno, and Kevin (April) Kent of Coshocton; two sisters, Tammy Wolfe of Coshocton, and Becky Hostetler of Fresno; and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Karl L. Kent; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Hostetler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at New Beginnings Ministries, 331 Church St. Warsaw, OH 43844, with Pastor Bill Dunfee officiating.
