HOWARD- Robert Francis Remen, 83, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at The Laurels in Mount Vernon.
He was born Jan. 12, 1935 in Cleveland to the late Prokop Frank and O’tillia (Suchma) Remen. He was a 1952 graduate of Mantua High School, and served in the US Army from 1957-1959. He married Eleanor F. (Fejes) Remen on June 29, 1957, who preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2010. He was a pattern maker and general foreman for National Castings Railroad for 46 years. He handcrafted muzzleloader target rifles and shot in competition across Ohio & Pennsylvania for many years. He played a lot of softball over the years, and also coached girl’s softball. He enjoyed racing, fishing, and hunting, and he loved his family very much.
He is survived by a daughter, Victoria (Rich) Rivera of Tempe, AZ; a son, Frank (Tierany) Remen of Howard; his grandchildren, Olivia Rivera and Lucas (fiancé Sophia Meshirer) Rivera; one expected great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren, Myles and Breanna Rossman; a sister-in-law, Cynthia (Ron) Gill of Garrettsville; and a brother-in-law, Vince Luce of Mantua.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Remen; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Luce & Suzann Lorentz.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 307 N. Market St. Danville, with Father Daniel Olvera officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Knox Co. Joint Veterans Council.
