James Fry Obituary

WARSAW- James Leroy “Jim” Fry, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at his residence.

Jim was a farmer at heart, born on a dairy farm in Coshocton Nov. 4, 1939 to the late J. Harvey and Clora Fawn (Webb) Fry. He started his farming experience on that dairy farm. At the age of 16 he went to work for Ralph Balo & Glenn Pew. Later he worked for John Graham Equipment for many years until going to Tri-Mac Farms in March 1969, where he planted & harvested fields for the next 45 years.

Jim’s work and family were his life. He retired from Tri-Mac in March 2014 and moved to what he called “Poverty Acres”. There he enjoyed mowing and crafting with his daughter. He enjoyed anything that involved farming or a John Deere tractor (his favorite).

In 2018 Jim moved to what he referred to as “Snedeckerville”. He bought a John Deere zero-turn and mowed for anyone who he thought needed the help.

He is survived by the love of his life, Doris Mae (Hagans) Fry, whom he married July 22, 1961 and enjoyed 62 years together. He is the proud father of Kathy Lynn Fry of Coshocton; and Doug (Andrea) Fry of Coshocton. He is also survived by his grandsons, Brett (Courtney) Fry of Coshocton, and Bryce Fry of Coshocton; a sister-in-law, Joyce Fry of Zanesville; and two nephews, Dan (Laura) Fry of Reynoldsburg, and Mark (Kim) Fry of Buckeye Lake.

Jim never forgot where his roots were. While resting one day he called to Doris, “Come here! I need to get the seed ordered for planting.” His favorite TV show was RFD. While watching one time he saw a new combine being displayed and quipped, “If someone would help me up in that I would run it all day and enjoy every minute.” That was his life...his work and family. He could repair almost anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Fry.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Dave Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation is two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
