Nancy J. (Vess) Kunkel

                Mount Vernon – Nancy (Vess) Kunkel, 66, passed away at home on Tuesday March 12, 2024.

                Nancy was born in Mount Vernon on October 12, 1957. She was the daughter of Robert L. and Violet M. (Smail) Vess. She was a passionate caregiver for MRDD and the elderly and was a member of the Utica Church of Christ and the Gold Wing Road Riders of America Chapter Y.

                She is survived by her husband, Harold Kunkel of Mount Vernon; her mother, Violet of Danville; children, Jamie (Darcy) Gronberg of Danville, Michelle (Scott) Lahmon of Howard, and Steve (Christal) Gronberg of Butler; grandchildren, Grace and Owen Gronberg, Braxton and Zachary Lahmon, Alisabeth (Dennis) Lamp, Bailey and Nicklaus Gronberg, Jessica, Heather, and Melissa Atherton, and Annabel Brumbley; great grandchildren, Ayva and Kain Lamp; siblings, Debra (Jim) Byers of Danville, Mike Vess of Danville, Don (Laurie) Vess of Danville, D. Lynne (Steve) Walkerow of Wooster, Jim Vess of Wetumka, AL, Paul (Dyanna) Vess of Danville, and Sarah Vess of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.

                She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Dianna, and her father, Robert.

                A cremation will take place with private burial. A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday March 17 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 Monday morning, March 18, at the Utica Church of Christ, 115 N. Central Ave. Doug Swan will be officiating.
