Wayne Thompson Obituary

Killbuck – Wayne Edward Thompson, 73, passed away at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon on Sunday March 31, 2024.

Wayne was born in Mount Vernon on December 8, 1950 to Burl Dean “Bud” and Dorothy M. (Barnes) Thompson. He served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, and then spent many years as a truck driver for several companies. You would always find him with a cup of coffee in his hand, and often on the family farm that he took great pride in. He also took pride in being a great son to his mother who he loved dearly, and he was a great father figure to his niece, Augusta.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Dorothy; siblings, Michelle Johnson, Rebecca Thompson, B. Dean (Becky) Thompson; nieces, Augusta (Jason) Wears, and Kristine (Sean) Hollinger; nephews, Nathan (Ashley) Presley, and Mike (Nicole) Thompson, and many of his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bud, and a sister, Sue Ann.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Bob Alexander will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until service time.
