Alice M. Grassbaugh

                MOUNT VERNON- Alice M. (Meehan) Grassbaugh, 78, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at her residence.

                She was born Jan. 26, 1939 in Mt. Vernon to the late Daniel and Mary (Dent) Meehan. She was a graduate of Danville High School and a former employee of Kenyon College and Ariel. She was a member of the Chargerettes & Sparettes Bowling Leagues.

                Alice never met a stranger. Her home was always open for anyone in need of a place to stay or a warm meal. She loved flowers and gardening, but most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

                She is survived by four children, Irvin L. Grassbaugh, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Steven D. Grassbaugh of Fredericktown, Diana B. Grassbaugh of Mount Vernon, and Susan M. (Michael) Hines of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Robert Tharp of Mount Vernon; and her beloved cat, “Missy”.

                In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin L. “Larry” Grassbaugh, Sr., whom she married on April 27, 1956 and who preceded her in death on July 16, 2014; two daughters, Devin Marie Grassbaugh and Melinda C. (Grassbaugh) Tharp; and also a daughter-in-law, Sheila (Combs) Grassbaugh.

                Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
