Blacklick - Charles W. Pinner, known by family and friends as Chuck, peacefully passed away in his home with his loving wife, Ev, and oldest daughter, Debi, at his side on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the age of 78.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, to Robert and Audrey (Stephens) Pinner, he later resided in Howard, Ohio after spending the majority of his adult life in California. Dad loved to be with family. He also loved playing Yahtzee and Scrabble with his bride of 58 years. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his Dad and brothers. One of the best days of his life was when he became a grandpa, and as the grandkids kept coming, he kept adding their picture to a frame next to his chair until he ran out of room! He loved to tease his grandkids, and the grandkids got very good at teasing him right back! He loved the Cleveland Indians, the Browns, and the Cavs (in that order!), and trips to SC to see his Uncle Kenn, Aunt Faye and Aunt Alline.
We are grateful to have been able to spend dedicated time with Dad this past month, hearing stories of him growing up, the early years of making ends meet with 2 jobs and a young family, and how much he loved our mom! He worked hard to support his family as God and life allowed, and left a legacy of perseverance that will be part of us forever.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, children; Deborah (Greg) Schaefer, Diane (Brent) Simms, and Donna Martinez (partner Damian Hopkins), grandchildren; Christopher (Jamie) Schaefer, Kevin (Amanda) Schaefer, Chad (Michelle) Simms, Andy (girlfriend Katy) Simms, Danny (girlfriend Sarah) Simms, Taylor (fiancé Brooke) Merriman, Kylie (James) Strapp, and Kassie Martinez, great grandchildren; Maddison (daughter of Kassie) and Chloe (daughter of Christopher and Jamie), Darryl (JoAnn) Pinner, Stephen (Judy) Pinner, and Jeffrey (Andrea) Pinner, sisters-in-law; Marie (Harry) Ponton and Judy (Karen) Masa, along with many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son David, his parents, and a brother, Robert E. “Bob” Pinner.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Sunday, May 27, at 2pm at Lifepoint Church, 110 East Vine Street, Mt. Vernon, OH, officiated by William Pursel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohio Living Foundation, 1001 Kingsmill Parkway Columbus, OH 43229, or at ohioliving.org/foundation/donate. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is assisting with arrangements. fischerfuneralhome.com
