Danville – Glenn Eugene Rice, 88, passed away Thursday March 29, 2018 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born in Knox County on May 4, 1929 to Robert and Dorothy (Stull) Rice. He married Carmen E. Hinger on May 6, 1949. Over the years, Gene worked for Jack Crow Plumbing, the Mount Vernon Police and the Knox County Sherriff Departments, and First Knox National Bank. He was a member of the Danville Church of Christ, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, and he and his wife were also charter members of Chapter Y of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, having ridden in all 48 contiguous states and every Canadian province except Newfoundland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Dawson.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Rice of Mount Vernon, his son, Michael (Nancy) Rice of Danville, his granddaughter, Tara (Jeremy) Finton of Canal Winchester, his sister, Mary Sue Dawson of Mount Vernon, and his sister-in-law, Donna (Wayne) Francis of Marietta.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2 in Workman Cemetery. Stan Ratliff will officiate.
