Henry Thompson Obituary

             

                COSHOCTON- Henry Edward Thompson, 88, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Coshocton Springs Health & Rehabilitation.

                He was born Jan. 29, 1930 in Coshocton to the late H. Dewey and Helen Sarah (McCleary) Thompson. He was a 1947 graduate of Coshocton High School, and a 1951 graduate of Miami (OH) University, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Army 40th Tank Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. In 1953, he began working in the real estate and insurance business with his father at The Thompson Agency, where he remained until 1987. The following year, he moved to Tucson, AZ where he worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker until his retirement in 2010.

                He was the 1965 Coshocton Co. Junior Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year; and was a member of the Coshocton Co. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for several years. He was named an Honorary Member of the Coshocton Co. Realtors Association in 2003. He was also a member of the Coshocton Elks, the Freemasons, and a former member of the Coshocton Kiwanis Club.

                Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and giving advice to anyone he thought needed it, even if they didn’t!

                He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Joann (Chambers) Thompson of Coshocton, whom he married June 23, 1990; a son, H. Dewey (Lisa) Thompson of Coshocton; two grandsons, Jordan & Justin Thompson, both of Coshocton; a niece, Karen Hale (Kirby Yarbrough) of Reston, VA; a nephew, Bradley Hale (Lyn Fontaine) of Port Angeles, WA; two step-daughters, Lee Anne Osborne of Fairborn, and Susan (Phillip) Shaw of Xenia; and three step-grandchildren, Ryan & Erin Hensley of Gilbert, AZ, and Tyler Shaw of Xenia.

                In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister & brother-in-law, Jane & Dick Hale; and a son-in-law, Sonny Osborne.

                A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Coshocton Presbyterian Church, 142 N. 4th St. Coshocton, OH 43812, with Rev. Jonathan T.
