Joyce A. Schindler

February 5, 1920 ~ October 20, 2015 (age 95) 95 Years Old

WARSAW- Joyce Aileen Schindler went home to heaven at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. She was 95 years old.
Joyce was born on February 5, 1920 in Cumberland, Maryland and grew up there with her family. She lost her husband, Blane, in the spring of 1976 and missed him every day. He was the love of her life as she was of his.
Joyce was the daughter of Hazel (Hill) and Clyde D. Zembower. She was the middle child and had an older brother, Clyde, and younger sister, Wanda, both deceased.
Joyce has lived near New Castle, Ohio since 2007. She moved there from Sarasota, Florida where she had lived since 1973. She is a member of New Castle Ministries. Joyce loved Jesus with all her heart and was always an example of His love and humility. Her son, Edward Schindler, has been living with her for about a year and a half. Her daughter and son-in-law, Rae and Doug Anderson, live next door.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin (Joelle) Linn of Birmingham, AL; Emma (Scott) Trainer of Zanesville, OH; Jenny Anderson of Warsaw, OH; Matthew (Crystal) Miller, St. Petersburg, FL; Alex Miller, Sarasota, FL. She has two great-granddaughters, Trinity Holland, of Zanesville, Felicity Grable,of Frazeysburg, OH and four great-grandbabies in heaven. Her niece who she loved like a daughter, Catherine (Bob) Stevens lives in Wiley Ford, WV with her great-niece Lynne (Tom) Grimm. She also has two great-great nephews and one great-great niece.
While in Florida, she was very active in Lawn Bowling and traveled all over the world for tournaments, many times achieving championship status. Joyce loved gardening, reading, needlework, baking, and helping people. She was a nurse for many years working alongside her husband and served in the US Army as an Army Nurse in France during WWII.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, OH. Graveside services will follow at New Castle Cemetery. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
