Robert A. Mizer

December 28, 1946 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Danville – Robert Allen Mizer, 71, passed away on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Bob was born on December 28, 1946 to the late Robert and Florence (McFarland) Mizer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968. On July 11, 1970, he married Barbara “Susie” Mizer. They are members of the North Bend Church of the Brethren.

Bob was a carpenter before he retired, specializing in wood trim. After retiring, he enjoyed caring for his property and delivering hot meals through The Sanctuary to people of eastern Knox County. He loved to talk, and share his philosophies about baseball and he loved his family. He took his kids to see Star Wars at the old drive-in theatre in Mount Vernon, which awakened the force in them. He created beautiful wooden chests for each of his granddaughters, and also built one of the tallest swings in Knox County. They liked to see if he could push them high enough so they could touch the tree with their feet.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susie, his daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Chamberlin of Mount Vernon, his son, Allen (Katie) Mizer of Hilliard, three granddaughters; Megan Chamberlin, and Aayla and Reese Mizer, a brother, and four sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 6 at the North Bend Church, 24458 Orange Hill Rd. Danville. Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate. Calling hours will be from 10:00 until service time.

Memorial contributions are suggested to SCA Hot Meals, PO Box 505 Danville, 43014. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. fischerfuneralhome.com
