Nellie - Rose M. Kennelly, 80, died on May 8, 2019 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, while recovering from a difficult illness. She maintained her dignity and wit until the end.
She was born in Neffs, Ohio to the late Jack and Elizabeth (Stemerick) Maroney. She recently retired from the food service program at Kenyon College, employed there for nearly 40 years. She graduated from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School in Pittsburgh, PA, and from The Ohio State University. Her passion was journalism, and for a number of years she founded, edited, published, and delivered the Walhonding Valley News. She relocated to Coshocton County in 1978 with her family, residing in Nellie since 1986. In Nellie she served on the village council and as tree commisioner.
Her five children, Thomas (Gina) Kennelly of Hamlet, NC; John (Lyon Ju) Kennelly of Bartlett, TN; James (Nancy) Kennelly of Circleville, OH; Paul (Janice) Kennelly of Whidbey Island, WA and Mary Anne Albanese (Ron Brzoska) of Columbus, OH; her six grandchildren, and brother, Dennis (Patty) Maroney Buena Vista, CA survive her.
She will rest for eternity with her late husband, Gerald E. Kennelly, whom she cherished in marriage for 42 years and since his death in 2002, at Darling Run Cemetery, where a graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10. Rev. Ashley McMillin from the Nellie U.M.C. will officiate. Following the service, family will receive friends at Peaches Pub in Warsaw. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is assisting the family with arrangements.
