Cloyce C. Hess

April 28, 1928 — January 27, 2011

DANVILLE - Cloyce Charles Hess, 82, our dear Dad of Bear Run Road, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his residence.

He was born April 28, 1928 in Danville to the late Cloyce L. and Hazel (Ertyl) Hess.

He worked at Millwood Sand & Gravel, then at East Knox School as a custodian where he retired after 16 years. During his retirement he worked part time as a security guard for TRW.

Dad was a proud marine who served at the bottom of World War II. He was a member of the VFW.

We are so grateful to have had such a great father, always being there for family and friends. To all of you that have met our Dad know that he was a hard-working, good honest man! Even though he wasn't a religious man, he did fear and respect God. He wasn't a politician or a doctor, but he did touch the lives of everyone he met in one way or another. You know who you are, and how he touched you. Dad and Mom were the best parents a person could have. They raised six great children; Ed, Kay, Bill, Keith, Sharon, & Jim. All of us loved and respected Dad. We know he was very proud of all of us, as we were of him. He will be missed very, very much.

Cloyce is survived by his sons; Ed (Georgia) Hess of Danville, Keith (Carol) Hess and Jim (Denise) Hess of Mount Vernon, his daughters; Sharon (Steve) Gerber of Sugarcreek, and Kay (Mike) Sigman of Howard, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Garnet (Sapp) Hess, a son, Bill Hess, a brother, Lawrence Adams and a sister, Mary Arwellor.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Ken Springer officiating. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Danville with graveside military services conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30th, and until service time on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox Co., 17700 Coshocton Rd., Mt. Vernon, OH 43014.
