BRINKHAVEN- James L. "Jim" Butler, 79, of TR 11, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 6, 1932 in Brinkhaven to the late Earl E. and Lilly Pearl (Kyser) Butler. He married Emma E. (Thayer) Butler on Feb. 27, 1960, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart commendation. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Union in Columbus before his retirement. He loved to mow the yard and taking care of his rose bushes. Jim Loved life and enjoyed it even in the down times. He loved to make people smile, and never met a stranger in his life.
He is survived by a son, Chris (Kim) Butler of Brinkhaven, two daughters; Lori (Rick) Demarco of Killbuck, and Terri Thayer of Mt. Sterling, KY, two grandsons; Mat (Natasha) Butler of Newark, and Jeff Ohm of Phoenix, AZ, two granddaughters; Sarah Butler of Brinkhaven, and Ellie (Hans) Ramseyer of Millersburg, two great-grandsons; Ethan & Kolton, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Dale Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Tiverton Baptist Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time.
