Mildred J. Wright

COOPERDALE- Mildred J. “Mid” Wright, age 89, of Cooperdale, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 9, 2016.

Survived by children Philip (Diane) Barcus of Powell, Joy (Barcus) Vance of Gambier, and Mark (Pam) Wright of Raymond; grandchildren, Tony Vance, Brandon Barcus, Christopher (Gena) Wright, Carly Barcus, and Matthew Wright; great-grandchildren, Riley Vance, Aubree Wright, and Hazel Wright; a niece, Donna (Marv) Royalty; and nephews Stan (Cheri) Frey and Gary Frey.

Born in Coshocton County April 10, 1927, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence A. and Anita Faun (Wintermute) Miller; by her husband of 63 years, Richard H. “Dick” Wright; sisters, Grace Lillian Miller, Florence Miller, Lucille (Miller) Heffelfinger, and Frances (Miller) Frey.

A graduate of Muskingum College, New Concord, she was a long standing member of the Beta Omega chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a life time member of the Cooperdale Nazarene Church, where she tirelessly gave of her time and talents serving as choir director, Sunday school teacher, church board member, director of youth groups, and loyal generous supporter.

Following retirement from school teaching after 34 years, which included several years as school principal at Union Elementary, she taught adult basic education in Coshocton for 11 years. In addition to her joy of teaching, she loved music, singing, playing piano, poetry, flowers, children, friends, family, the beauty of nature and the goodness of people. She touched countless lives in meaningful ways.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 12, 2016 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Buck Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in West Carlisle Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
