Danville - Shawn J. Blubaugh, 41, died Thursday May 6, 2010.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on March 2, 1969 to Steve Blubaugh of Danville and Lois (McCoy) Tharp of Mt. Vernon, both survive.
Shawn is also survived by his wife Toni (Fox) Blubaugh who he married on June 23, 1990. They have two children of the home, a son Taylor, 17, and daughter Mashawn, 10. Besides his parents, wife, and children, he is survived by brothers; Brian (Janet), and Terry (Tracy) Blubaugh of Danville, his mother and father -in-law; Charles and Lois Fox. Also surviving are several in-laws; Gary Fox (Terri) of Mt. Vernon, Suzanne Springer, of Ironton, Barry Fox (Deana) of Rose Hill Ks, Shelley Ansel, Danville, and Tia Ball (Lincoln) of Howard. Shawn loved his many nieces and nephews; Kimberly Snyder, Craig Springer (Megan), Megan Davis (Adam), Tyler Springer, Ashley O'Keefe (Terrance), Stacy Springer, Jacob Ludwig, Tom Fox, Kelbey Ball, Jessica Blubaugh, Morgan Sinnett, Breanna McFadden, Bryant Blubaugh, Kodey Ball, Mason Ansel, Jared Blubaugh, and Lani Blubaugh, along with several great nieces and nephews.
Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents; Otto and Ruth Blubaugh, and Stuart and Leoda McCoy. He was also preceded by his uncle; Clem Blubaugh, and cousins Todd Mickley, Brad and Brett Blubaugh, as well as a sister -in-law Barby (Fox) Ludwig.
Shawn was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Danville, attending regularly with his family, where he was also a Member of The Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping to coach his daughter Mashawn's softball team. He was recently teaching his son Taylor to drive. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife Toni.
Shawn was an avid deer hunter enjoying both bow and gun hunting seasons on his Dad's land. Shawn was also an enthusiast for the Kenton Dog Trials, where he attended yearly with his brothers and cousins.
He was an employee for the State of Ohio Department of Transportation since 2002. He loved performing his job duties, being outside, and working with his co-workers. Snow plowing was his favorite duty on the job, a favorite quote for work was "Let it Snow". As a Knox County resident Shawn was a trustee for Union Township where he has served for the last two years. Shawn was also a former employee of Mansfield Plumbing Products where he worked for 13 years prior to his current employment.
Being a 1987 Graduate of Danville High School, and also the Knox County Joint Vocational School Agricultural Mechanics Program, Shawn was still very active in attending sporting events for the Blue Devils. Shawn's enthusiasm was greatest for Danville Football.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the St. Luke Church in Danville, with Fathers Homer Blubaugh and Richard Snoke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5-8:00 at the church Monday evening. Donations may be made to the Shawn Blubaugh Memorial Fund in care of First Knox National Bank; 1 Public Square, Danville 43014. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
