Howard - Allen Duane Heilman, Sr., 83, of Apple Valley left the world November 24, 2013 like he entered it... fighting.
He was born June 24, 1930 in Warren to Charles L. and Nora L. (Bell) Heilman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1955. On June 5, 1954, he married Honey Doran. Al was an avid fisherman, a talented woodworker, and a die-hard Buckeye fan. He was also a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville.
He is survived by his wife, Honey Heilman of Howard, children; Rebecca (Tom) Campbell, Michael (Sherry) Heilman, Patricia (Larry) Ciferno, and Allen D. (Elizabeth) Heilman, Jr., grandchildren; Lee (Christina) Campbell, Kasey Campbell, Carly Campbell, Michael Shane Heilman, Sarah Heilman, Christopher (Stephanie) Ciferno, Nicholas P. Ciferno, Alec C. Ciferno, Caroline O. Ciferno, Samantha M. Heilman, Rebecca R. Heilman, Naomi M. Heilman, and Joseph E. Heilman, a great grandchild, Max C. Ciferno, and sisters; Betty Barney, and Doris Zombar.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Alice Palm, brothers; Leslie, Kenneth, and Charles Eugene Heilman, nephews; William Huff and Timothy Doran, and a niece, Janet Cardenelli.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 27 at the St. Luke Church, 307 S. Market St., Danville. Father Victor Wesolowski will officiate. Burial, with military honors by the American Legion Post 540 and the Trumbull County Honor Guard, will be held in All Souls Cemetery near Champion Heights on Friday, November 29 at Noon. Calling hours will be held at the St. Luke church from 5-7 on Tuesday.
