Bill "Sid" Summers

July 12, 1935 — April 10, 2012

DANVILLE- Bill "Sid" Summers, 76, of S. Mickley St., died Tuesday April 11, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born July 12, 1935 in Middlebourne, WV to the late Rolly and Arizona (Smith) Summers. He married Joyce Ann (Mickley) Summers on Sept. 11, 1954, who preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 1997. He retired from the Union Oil Company. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for Ohio State football, the Cleveland Browns, and Danville Blue Devils. He was considered the town greeter at the Lyon's Den in Danville and Hammond's grocery store.

He is survived by three sons; Bill Jr. and Jim of Mt. Vernon, and Ron (Jennifer) Summers of South Vienna, a daughter, Paula (Dave) Morrison of Franklin TN, seven grandchildren; Craig and Ryan Summers, Stephanie Stacy and Jennifer Summers, Andrea Morrison-Waller, Melissa Morrison-Jackson, and Jamie Summers, 6 great grandchildren, five sisters, Freda Smith, Peg Kirk, Dorothy (John) Davis, Nellie Elliott, and Naomi (Russell) Miller, one brother, Bobby Summers, and a sister-in-law; Gladys Summers. A special thanks to his sister, Nellie Elliott, who was a constant part of his everyday life.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Orville, Russell, Shearl, and Wayne, and a sister, Wilma Foland.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. Luke's Cemetery in Danville with Rev. F. Richard Snoke officiating. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
