Danville – Carroll T. Harding, 85, formerly of Gambier, passed away on Thursday August 27, 2015 at his residence.
He was born August 30, 1929 to Wesley and Mildred (Gantt) Harding. He married Betty Sapp on March 19, 1949. Carroll worked at Kenyon College for 40 years and retired as the supervisor of the custodial department. He loved working in his wood shop and having his family close. He enjoyed camping, mowing, and riding his golf cart with his dog “Lady”. He was also an avid Ohio State fan.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, 3 daughters; Sue (John) Hammond of Danville, Kathy Mabe of Mount Vernon, and Lori (Jon) Moore of Bangs, 2 sons; Joseph (Carol) Harding, and Stephen (Connie) Harding of Mount Vernon, adopted children; Susan Harding , and David (Melissa) Harding of Mount Vernon, 2 sisters; Joan (Don) Yoakam of Mount Vernon, and Ruth Gillian of Gambier, a brother, Jack Harding of Dayton, grandchildren; Christopher Ray, Leslie Hammons, Christy Bennett, Amber (Jack) Sturgeon, Bridget (Justin) Wilson, Charlie (Sharree) Harris, Colton (Kasey) Moore, Cameron (Leah Carlson) Moore, and Eythan Harding, great grandchildren; Trenton and Trevor Sturgeon, Sydney Bennett, Connor McCammon, Hendrix Moore, Andrea and Charlie Wilson, Makenzie Vandyke, Christopher and Kyle Harris, Christopher Ray II, Theodore Ray, and Kayleigh and Sonador Harding, 3 sisters-in-law; Janet Sapp of Danville, Bea (Don) Ryan of Mount Vernon, and Linda (John) Durbin of Mount Vernon, step brother-in-law, Bill (Susie) Vacheresse of Johnstown, and several nieces and nephews.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene Harding, and a great grandson, Henley Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 29 at the Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Rd, Mt. Vernon. Pastor Ken Springer will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier. Visitation will be from 4-7 Friday evening at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
