Charles E. Akins

Coshocton - Charles E. Akins, 90, of TR 74, died Friday May 25, 2012 at Autumn Extended Care.

He was born April 18, 1922 in Blissfield to Otto B. and Florence P. (VanKannel) Akins. He was a 1940 graduate of Warsaw High School, and a WWII Army veteran. On September 20, 1953, he was married to Janice Taylor. He retired from Frontier Power on October 31, 1992 after 47 years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, the American Legion Post #65, and was a great reader of all major newspapers.

Charles is survived by his wife; Janice Akins, a brother; Robert (Janet) Akins of Killbuck, nieces; Laraine "Raine" Lawson of Corning, and Alexis (Steve) Hackenbracht of West Lafayette, nephews; Garney Lawson of Erhlanger, KY, and Ben (Lisa) Lawson of Coshocton, 4 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law; Sandra Gamertsfelder of Killbuck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister; Adelaide M. Lawson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 29, 2012 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Pastor Phillip Hunt will officiate. Burial will follow in Roscoe Cemetery, with military rites by the Coshocton County Veterans Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
