Howard – Clair Vance, 89, of Boeshart Rd., passed away Sunday February 16, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Tazwell County, Virginia on May 4, 1924 to Joseph and Hannah Bell (Christian) Beavers. On August 18, 1951, she married Emory J. Vance. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Doyle Vance, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Surviving are her daughters; Brenda Hanson of Howard, Sharon (David) Williams of Mount Vernon, Debby (Steve) Stover of Mount Vernon, and Vicky Elkins (Harold Davis) of Mount Vernon, 12 grandchildren; Angie Pochedley, David Baer, Nicole Bell, Brian Baker, Matthew Davidson, Megan Vance, Josh Elkins, Scott Vance, Shawn Davidson, Zach Elkins, Chelsea Stover, and Dylan Stover, 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Nell Hogshire of Delaware, and a daughter-in-law, Roxanne Vance.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Brenda Hanson Benefit Fund, in care of First Knox Bank. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
