Hayesville - Clarence Emerson Vess, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Brethren Care Village in Ashland.

Clarence was born in Monroe County on July 12, 1928. He was the son of the late Dewey and Nina (Yockey) Vess. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1952-1954, and was a retired truck driver, having driven for over 50 years. He formerly attended the Millwood Church of Christ and had recently attended the North End Church of Christ in Ashland.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol R. (Rhodes) Vess whom he married on August 20, 1955; his sister, Helen Ratcliff; and his brothers, Raymond, Leonard, and Robert Vess.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Kranz of Millersburg; grandkids, Erica & Jessica Kranz of Hayesville, and Chris Kranz of San Antonio, TX; and his sister, Pat (Frank) Graves of Coshocton.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, in the Workman Cemetery just outside of Danville. Dave Jones will officiate, and military rites will be performed by the Knox County Veterans Council Honor Guard. A reception will follow at the Millwood Church of Christ, 10900 Millersburg Rd. Howard, OH 43028.
