Coletta M. Durbin
Mount Vernon - Coletta Mary Durbin, 100, died May 18, 2008 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born to Samuel C. and Nettie M. (Banbury) Shults on March 13, 1908 in Danville, OH. Coletta was one of four children, all of whom preceded her in death. They were Maurine (Otto) Fesler, John A. (Louise) Shults, and Sam Shults, whose wife Evelyn survives.
Coletta graduated from Danville High School in 1926. On September 25, 1929 she married Alfred R. Durbin. They had four children; Father Samuel Durbin, deceased, Charles A. Durbin (Mary, deceased) of Mount Vernon, JoAnne (Charles, deceased) Bumpus of Mount Vernon, and J. Robert, deceased, and his wife Vennie of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Greg (Judy) Durbin of Maple Valley, WA, Chris (Mike) Petee, Geoff (Connie) Durbin, Donna (Craig) Maloney, and Laura (Rogier) Paalvast all of Mount Vernon, Robert Lee Durbin of Howard, Jenny (Tim) Franz, and Tim (Diane) Durbin of Mount Vernon, Sandy (Rick) Gerace of Dublin, Tom Durbin of Fairlawn, and Mitch (Lori) Bumpus of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by many great, and great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, the L.C.B.A., and she was a priest housekeeper in Mount Vernon, Columbus, and Newark.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday June 11, 2008, at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville. The Rev. F. Richard Snoke will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery. Calling hours will begin two hours before service time at the church. Memorial donations can be made to the Ohio Eastern Star Home; 1451 Gambier Rd., Mount Vernon, OH, 43050.
