Daniel Dean Rettig

February 12, 1959 — May 23, 2016

Howard - Daniel Dean Rettig, 57, passed away on Monday May 23, 2016 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Dan was born the youngest of 5 children to Imogene (Didinger) and Lloyd Dean Rettig on February 12, 1959. He was always "baby brother" to his sisters, who spoiled and loved him dearly, and with whom he always shared a close bond. He was a hunter, a fisher, and could find Morels even when nobody else could. He was a Browns, Buckeyes, and Nascar fan, and loved to listen to classic rock, watch old westerns, and go to yard sales. He was a master on the grill, and never once was there a man who could be more proud of his family.

Dan had a fun spirit. He made people laugh because he was never afraid to say inappropriate things. Even up till the end, he was always making the hospital staff laugh, and stayed in good spirits.

He is survived by his wife, Christine (Frazee) Rettig, his daughter, Chelsea Rettig, his son, Cody Rettig, his sisters; Denise (Roger) Coffield of Danville, Debra (Don) Rettig-Hannah of Gambier, Darlene (Gary) Campbell of Danville, and Donna (Doug) Hamilton of Newark, 10 nieces and nephews, and 3 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step father, George Blaha.

A celebration of Danny's life will be held at a later time. His children suggest memorial donations to their mother to help with medical expenses to PO Box 175 Howard, OH 43028. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
