COSHOCTON-David Haldor Norris, 68, of CR 17, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville following a brief illness.
He was born September 20, 1944, in Coshocton to the late Melvin and Sarah Elizabeth (Richcreek) Norris. He attended Roscoe High School and graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1965-1971 and was employed at General Electric in Coshocton for 38 years. In his retirement, David enjoyed farming, restoring antique tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member and past master of the Wakatomika Masonic Lodge #108 and the York Rite Masons. He had served on the Coshocton County Health Board and had been active with the GE Retirees organization, volunteering for the Coshocton County Handicapped Society. He was currently on the Board of Directors for the Coshocton County Antique Power Association, and served as vice president and groundskeeper for the Union (Smith Hill) Cemetery Association. On January 27, 1968, David married Sue Hawthorne. She preceded him in death on January 20, 1996.
In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by his step-father, James Henry Preston "J.P."Norris; his parents-in-law, Forrest and Ruby Hawthorne; and two brothers-in-law, Mark Hawthorne and David Lawrentz.
Survivors include two daughters, Juliet (Derek) Lacy and Christyn (Gavin) Kurtz, all of Dresden; three grandchildren, Sean, Keira, and Gwendolyn Lacy of Dresden; two sisters, Carolee Lawrentz and Joyce (Larry) Watson, all of Coshocton; as well as an aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday Jan. 4, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Ed Boyce officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Hill Union Cemetery.
