Howard- Dean Nelson Magers, 72, of Magers Rd., died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at his residence.
He was born March 14, 1939 in Howard to the late Donald and Rosella (Lifer) Magers. He was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School, and spent his whole life as a farmer. He was a former Howard Twp. Trustee, and he attended the Country Bible Fellowship Church. In addition to farming, he also enjoyed the outdoors, and had a great love for life.
He is survived by his wife, Bette (Kymer) Magers of Howard, who he married Aug. 25. 1956. Also surviving are three children; Cindy (Robert) Smith, Laurie Magers, and Tim Magers, all of Howard, five grandchildren; Brian & Matthew Smith, Eric Spittle, and Nicole & Joshua Magers, four great-grandchildren, three brothers; Harold (Marilyn) Magers of Howard, Dalton (Norma) Magers, and Neil Magers, both of Mt. Vernon, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Magers, and a niece, Christine.
UPDATED on 11/13/11: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at Amity Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Wert officiating. Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
