BURBANK – Delsie May Fry, formerly of Coshocton, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Burbank Parke Care Center at the age of 94.
Delsie (Lane) Fry was born February 18, 1932 in Coshocton in her parents’ home. Thomas and Oleva (Smailes) Lane were given an extra blessing that day soon after her twin sister, Elsie, was born. As the doctor was preparing to leave, Delsie arrived. Elsie and Delsie were sisters and best friends all their lives.
She graduated from Coshocton High School in 1950. She attended White Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus. She worked at White Cross Hospital until Dr. Beecher Smith observed Delsie at work and asked if she would consider working for his office.
Delsie met her future husband, Donald Dean Fry, while he was on leave from the Navy so he could attend his brother’s wedding. His brother, Albert Fry, was marrying her sister, Elsie. Don and Delsie were married June 8, 1956 and lived in Columbus. Eventually they returned to Coshocton where Delsie was a registered nurse working at Coshocton Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1994.
She was the proud mother of five children: Steve, Dave, Jeff, Lynn, and Tom. She was never happier than when they were all home having a cup of coffee in the kitchen, sharing stories. She sewed quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and camped all across the country in a pop-up trailer. Later, she and Don took a cruise to Alaska, the Caribbean, and flew to Hawaii. She and Don were together for 69 years. She was a faithful member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Phi Chi Class.
She is survived by her children: Steven (Jeanette) Fry, David (Tina) Fry, Jeffrey (Georgia) Fry, Lynn (Everett) Crosby, and Thomas (Kathrine) Fry. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fry; her parents, Thomas and Oleva (Smailes) Lane, her sister, Elsie (Albert) Fry, and her two brothers in law: Richard (Patrica) Fry, and Tommy Fry.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
