Dexter L. Swendal

DANVILLE- Dexter Leon Swendal, 79, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Altercare Majora Lane in Millersburg.

He was born Jan. 26, 1946 in Mt. Vernon to the late Kenneth Eugene and Marjorie Lucille (Talbott) Swendal. He was a 1964 graduate of Danville High School, and served in the US Army in Korea from 1965-1967. He retuned home to work at Cooper’s for a few years before moving on to Dayton Tool & Supply, where he remained until his retirement. His true passion was farming at home, and going to auctions.

Dexter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris E. (Woods) Swendal of Danville, whom he married June 9, 1968; their three sons, Aron Swendal of Westerville , Alan (Julia) Swendal of Danville, and Andrew (Jennifer) Swendal of Danville; grandchildren, Levi (Julianna) Swendal, Lindsey Swendal, and Ethan Swendal; step-grandchildren, Erin & Evan Crider, and James & Miale Hurlow; a brother, Garrett (Linda) Swendal of Danville; two sisters, Paula (Kenneth) Boeshart, and Robyn (Tom) Staats, both of Danville; several nieces & nephews; and special friends, Ronnie & Linda Snively of Texas, and Matt & Julie Bailey of Buckeye Lake.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lorin & Grace Swendal.

A private graveside service will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, with Rev. Howard Clevenger officiating. Graveside military rites will be performed by the Knox Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
