Donald R. Poorman, Sr

COSHOCTON- Donald Richard Poorman, Sr., 84, of Plum Rd., died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at Coshocton Co. Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 30, 1930 in Newcomerstown to the late Gifford and Marie (Hamer) Poorman. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1952-1954. He married Joanne (Decker) Poorman on Sept. 25, 1952, who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2011. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1330, American Legion Post #65, and Army Navy Garrison 628.

Donald enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, and watching sports, especially the Cleveland Browns, Cavs & Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a great person and a wonderful father.

He is survived by six children; Donnie Poorman of Newark, Robin Poorman of West Lafayette, Sherry Murray of Coshocton, Debbie (James) Cable of Circleville, Chris (Chandra) Poorman of Coshocton, and Dave Poorman of Coshocton, thirteen grandchildren; Leslie Poorman, Caleigh Poorman, Amie Bibby, Lindsey (Wyatt) Miller, Christopher Murray, Julia Cable, Cara & Brandon Harsh, , Brittany Meek, Clinton Morris, Lavonda (Kenny) McCombs, Kayla Fink, and Mallory Grimmett, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two brothers; Kenny (Pat) Poorman of Coshocton, and Roger (Kara) Poorman of Nellie, two sisters; Marguerite (Don) Gallion of Clark, and Kay (Troy) Stamper of Keene, his companion, Norma Darby of Coshocton, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Poorman, four brothers; Alan, Larry, Gene, & Carrol Poorman, and three sisters; Mary Lawrence, Martha Collins, Adelaide Poorman.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service time.
