Coshocton- Dorothy Eileen Whitaker, 89, of 26222 SR 83, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 7, 1918 in Bethlehem Twp. to the late Charles M. and Frances O. (Rutledge) Hooker. She married Donald Whitaker on Sept. 1, 1945, whom survives. She graduated from Kent State with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching. She taught school in Oxford Twp., Tiverton, Plainfield, and Keene for 20 years. She was a life-member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the Ladies Aid and the Keene Happy Neighbors.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Whitaker of Coshocton, three granddaughters; Dawn (Jarrod) McClain of Newark, Tacy (Scott) Osler of Mountain View, CA and Erin (Andy) Rinehart of Powell, a grandson, Trevor Whitaker of Powell, and five great-grandchildren; Cameron Poulton, Tyson Poulton, Reese McClain, Justis McClain all of Newark, and Grace Osler of Mountain View, CA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Lowell Whitaker, and a brother, Roy Hooker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at the Prairie Chapel U.M.C. with Rev. Everett Stoddard and Rev. Don Dolick officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, and one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.
