WARSAW - Dorothy Mae Young, 90, of East Church Street died July 3, 2010 in the emergency room of Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 17, 1919 in Coshocton County to the late Frank and Sarah E. (Didinger) Shannon.
She was a homemaker and the Warsaw correspondent for The Coshocton Tribune for many years. She was a member of the Dutch Run Trinity United Church of Christ and a 53 year member and past Matron of the Warsaw Chapter #409 Order of the Eastern Star later merging with Coshocton Chapter #157. She served in 1977-78 as Grand Representative of Saskatchewan, Canada in Ohio. She was a former election poll worker for many years in Monroe Township and a member of the Walhonding Valley Grange for many years. She was a 1938 graduate of Warsaw High School.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Young, who she married April 20, 1940. Also surviving is a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Yaw of Ravenna. A granddaughter, four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sophia Steele, Martha Kanuckle, Angelia Kanuckle, and Ruth McGrady. Two infant brothers, and a son-in-law, Larry L. Yaw.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Wayne P. Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw. Visitation is Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. and until service time on Wednesday.
