BRINKHAVEN - Dortha Naomi Holdren, 94, a 64 year resident of Brinkhaven and a recent resident of the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at the Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1917 in McMechen, WV to the late Earl E. and Myrtle (Logston) Elliott.
She was the postmaster in Brinkhaven for 24 years. She was a member of the Millwood Church of Christ, the Glenwood Chapter #303 Order of the Eastern Star,the Tiverton Grange and a 1934 graduate of Warsaw High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice A. Skeen of Mount Vernon and Sandra J. Tibodeau of Colorado Springs, CO. Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A daughter-in-law, Barb Holdren of Howard. Three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Elliott of Brinkhaven, Mary Elliott of Smithville, and Emma Dreyer of Fairborn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis M. Holdren, who she married Nov. 1, 1941, he died Dec. 20, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lewis M. Holdren II. Six brothers, Earl H. "Bud", Edward, Robert, Charles, Kenneth, & James Elliott. A sister-in-law, Dorothy "Gabby" Elliott.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Millwood Church of Christ with Dave Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Workman Cemetery at Danville. Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
