Danville - Earl Junior Vance, age 81, of Danville, died on May 31, 2010 at 11:26 AM with his three children at his bedside.
He was born in Homecreek, VA on October 27, 1928 to Earl Harvey and Garnett (Nichole) Vance, who preceded him in death. Also deceased are a brother; Bernard Vance, and his wife; Lula Mae Vance.
He is survived by a son; Monte Lee (Shawn) Vance of Danville, daughters; Sandra Kay Jackson, and Suzy Dianne Hagans both of Danville, grandchildren; Surita, Eva Mae, Shirlena, Melissa, Karen, Amy, Amber, and Earl Martin, 13 great grandchildren, a half brother; Lawrence Hagy of Virginia, and a half sister; Peggy Hagy of Wainwright, FL.
He was a member of the New Harvest Community Gathering House of the Lord in Mount Vernon.
Earl enjoyed working hard for his family, and would take any job to help them through the hard and good times. Those jobs included Cooper-Bessemer (Rolls-Royce), Purdy's Sand and Gravel, Kenyon College Food Services, and custodian for both the Danville Post Office and High School. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Danville Fire Department. Above all, the one job he had and enjoyed the most and gave him such pleasure, was being a volunteer Reserve Auxiliary Officer for the Danville Police Department for 24 years, where he worked along with his son Monte, now Chief of Police.
He lived for and served our Lord Jesus Christ for 65 years. Because of the dedication of both Earl and his wife Mae's lifelong commitment to Jesus, their children want to express their upmost gratitude, joy, love, and highest respect for the intimate relationship we now have with our Lord and Savior. Because of our parents' example of that type of relationship with Jesus, Monte, Sandra, and Suzy are committed to passing on that inheritance to their families and the world.
Daddy, you are now with Jesus and our loving mother. When our work here on earth is done, we too will be with Jesus, and together again as a family. We love you Daddy.
