October 7, 1919 — September 30, 2012

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ- Edna Shurtz, 92, formerly of Coshocton OH, passed away Sunday Sept. 30, 2012 at Fountain View Village Nursing Home, after a brief illness. She resided with her daughter & son in law, Barb & Randy Phillips in Fountain Hills.

She was born in Adamsville, OH on Oct. 7, 1919 to the late Howard & Mary (Parr) Bowden. After she graduated high school in 1938, she married her husband of 71 years, Roy Shurtz, on Aug 8, 1940, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2012. When they lived in Dresden, OH they owned & operated a New Idea farm equiment business. They moved to Coshocton in 1966 until Nov. 2010, when they moved to Arizona. She was a member of the Dresden Chapter of the Ohio Eastern Star, Coshocton White Shrine and Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and volunteering at the senior center in Coshocton. She made the best pumpkin pie and enjoyed putting puzzles together.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Shurtz, brother-in-law, Robert Shurtz, a granddaughter, Heather Crider, a great-granddaughter, Khloe Phillips, a sister, Dorothy Jacobs, and two brothers; Raymond & Lawrence Bowden.

She is survived by three daughters; Karen Camden of Columbus, OH, Diane (Rocky) Crider of Peoria, AZ, and Barb (Randy) Phillips of Fountain Hills, AZ, four grandchildren; Angie (Joe) Stuckey, Tonya (Danny) Haines, Matthew (Andrea) Phillips, and Courtney Phillips, four great-grandchildren; Alexandra Janusz, Elizabeth & Colin Phillips, and David Stuckey, and a sister; Bernadine Brookover.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday October 13, 2012 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12th, with an Ohio Eastern Star service held at 2:00 p.m., and visitation also one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
