Edward Frederick Garber

FRESNO - Edward Frederick Garber, 82, of 52842 CR 227 died May 10, 2011 at Autumn Extended Care.

He was born near Chili on Dec. 20, 1928 to the late LeRoy Fred and Phoebe Catherine (Thomas) Garber.

He was a lifelong farmer having lived and worked on the family farm all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the First Calvary, the Seventh Regiment as a motor sergeant of the 4.2 Mortar Company. He received an Occupation Medal (Japan), Combat Infantry Badge, and Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. He served as a Crawford Township Trustee for 20 years and was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Coshocton and the American Legion.

On July 26, 1959 he married Doris (Federspiel) Garber, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Curtis A. (Maurita) Garber of Fresno, a daughter, Catherine (Paul) Garber Snyder of Baltic, three granddaughters, Courtney, Nicole, and Mallory Snyder, and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Garber of Fresno.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, David, & Dennis Garber, and three sisters, Beulah Hill, Mary Israel, and Pauline Vickers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1500 Pleasant Valley Drive in Coshocton, with Pastor Bryan Kittner officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Chili, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council. Visitation is two hours prior to service time at the church. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling the arrangements.
