HOWARD- Eldon Ira Frye, 83, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025 at his residence.

He was born Nov. 11, 1941 in Mt. Vernon to the late Eldon Frederick and Hazel (Workman) Frye. He was a 1959 graduate of Amity High School. He married Linda Lou (Hull) Frye, who preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2018.

Eldon worked for a time at Ariel and Pittsburgh Plate, before he retired from Mansfield Plumbing. He was an avid drag race driver in his younger years, loved hunting and fishing, and was a member of Journey Church in Howard.

He is survived by a son, Lee Frye of Howard; six grandchildren, Calvin (Ashley) Frye, Marsha (Aiden) Frye-Arvizu, Andy (Amber Ley) Frye, Jenna (Kelly) Metz, Tym Booth, and Terren Booth; seven great-grandchildren, Trenton & Marcus Hillyer, Tysen Henry, Merin Stone, Landon Frye, Paxton Metz,  and Matthew Booth; three great-great-grandchildren, Zayden & Xander Hillyer, and Kamdyn Henry; and two brothers, Tom (Diane) & Michael (Paula) Frye.

In addition to his parents and wife, Eldon was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Booth; a granddaughter, Shawna Booth; a sister, Jean Barker; and a brother, Phillip Frye.

Private graveside services will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. FischerFuneralHome.com
