Coshocton- Elizabeth Eileen "Betty" Newell, 87, of Coshocton passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Autumn Health Care where she had been a patient a few days since suffering a stroke.
Elizabeth was born July 9, 1921, in Coshocton to the late William and Anna (Moody) Benner. She was the oldest of four children, with brother, William "Buck" Benner (deceased), sisters Wiletta Nelson (deceased) and Imogene Cox. Elizabeth graduated from Coshocton High School in 1939, and lived in the city throughout her life.
She was first married to Howard Bordenkircher (deceased) and together they had six children: Ronald Bordenkircher; William Bordenkircher; Gregory Bordenkircher (deceased); Ridglae (deceased, husband Skip) Kocher; Michael (wife Donna) Bordenkircher; and Sally (husband Larry) Boal. Elizabeth was later married to William "Bill" Newell (deceased.) Elizabeth was a homemaker and also worked at several local retail businesses. She was an accomplished seamstress; enjoyed cooking, baking and playing cards. During her life, Elizabeth was able to travel to several different countries around the world and especially enjoyed her trips to Hong Kong, Ireland and Acapulco.
In addition to her children and sister, she is survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, twelve great-great grandchildren with two expected and seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, Ohio at 11a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009, with Pastor Joy Blaney officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
