Howard - French G. McFadden, 78, died unexpectedly on Sunday October 27, 2013 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born January 18, 1935 in Marlington, WV to Arthur James and Nancy Ann (Roberts) McFadden. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany from 1957-59. He was a timber cutter for much of his life and retired from the Apple Valley Maintenance Department. "Uncle Noyet" as he was called, loved working on and restoring garden tractors. He enjoyed teaching his great-great nephews Kyle and Timmy Flood how to drive tractors at the age of 3 and 4.
He is survived by a son, Randy McFadden of Danville, 2 sisters; Bertha R. Fortney of Garrettsville and Mary E. McDonald of Howard, a half brother, Keith (Norma) Hammons of Howard, a step sister, Pearl Moravy of Haysville, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a beloved step father, Millard Hammons, brothers; Harlan, Ashford, Walter, Arnel, and Robert, and a sister, Lily Fortney.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 30, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Dave Jones will officiate. Burial, with military rites conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Campbell Cemetery on SR 229 in Butler Township.
