       HOWARD- Gene Autry “Buddy” Watts II, 66, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

       Buddy was born June 8, 1959 in Cleveland to Gene Autry Watts Sr. and Wanda (Pack) Watts. He grew up in Wayne, West Virginia, and Cleveland, and later relocated to Danville.

       Buddy was known for his kind heart and great sense of humor. He had a deep love for his family and his loyal canine companion, “Tigger”. He also enjoyed watching classic westerns, especially films starring John Wayne, which reflected his appreciation for grit, loyalty, and straightforward values. Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic and his favorite saying, “Life is good—get ’er done, Johnny Reb.”

       Buddy is survived by his mother, Wanda Kuhel; siblings Patricia (Steve) Ferenbaugh, Shirley (Bill) Kennedy, Orville (Cindy) Watts, and Tami Endsley; step-siblings, Laurie Banbury and Gary Kuhel; children Cassi Watts, Hannah (Curtis) Chester, and Nathan Fox; grandchildren, Gavyn Leply, Ethan Ryan Fox, and Tegan Chester; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

       He was preceded in death by his son, Gene Autry “Bucky” Watts III; his stepfather, Ernie Kuhel; and his father, Gene Autry Watts Sr.
