George W. Fisher

COSHOCTON - George W. Fisher, 88, of Coshocton, died September 10, 2009 at the Extended Care Facility of Coshocton County Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 12, 1920 to the late George D. and Grace S. (Randles) Fisher. He married Eileen (Sheeley) Fisher on Dec. 28, 1958, whom survives. He was a veteran of WWII in the US Navy, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a retired Director of Utilities for the City of Coshocton. He was a life-member and past-president of the Coshocton Lions Club, American Legion Post #65, a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1330, life-member of AmVets #36, life-member of the Coshocton Co. Sportsmen's Club, Elks Lodge #376, and a life-member of the American Waterworks Association.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Fisher of Coshocton, three daughters; Judy Ann (Fred) Metz, Joyce (David) Glazier, and Janice Stotler(fiancAC. Michael R. Foughty), all of Coshocton, two granddaughters; Jamie (Brian) Six of Columbus, and Lindsey (Ryan) Forbes of Coshocton, a grandson, Kevin C. (Jovie) Metz (retired US Navy) of Warsaw, two great-granddaughters; Kayla & Kylee Metz and one expectant great-granddaughter, step-son, Michael L. (Sandra) Stoker of Brighton, MI, and a sister, Geraldine Nichols of Coshocton.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Mae (Wood) Fisher, a daughter, Sharlene Kay Fisher, two brothers; Vincent and Dewey David Fisher, and four sisters; Pauline Hootman, Wathena Kreider, Colleen Hammersley, and Pat Saxton.


Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Charles Warren officiating. Burial will be in the South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton with graveside military services conducted by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation is Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 2-4 P.M. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with a Lions Club Memorial Service at 3:45 p.m., and until service time on Monday.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coshocton Lions Club Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o The Coshocton Foundation 220 S 4th St. Coshocton, OH 43812 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
