COSHOCTON- Gerald E. Dunfee, 81, of Coshocton, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born April 25th, 1944 in San Francisco, California the son of Marion C. Dunfee and E. Pauline (Loos) Dunfee. A graduate of Three Rivers High School, Gerald retired after 35 years of working for the G. E. Company at Coshocton. Gerald fulfilled his military obligation by serving for 6 years in the Ohio National Guard.
On May 16, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart Barbara S. Selders, who survives. He and his wife have celebrated several anniversaries at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Gerald is a member of the Prairie Chapel Methodist Church, having transferred his membership from the New Moscow Methodist Church in the early 1960's.
Gerald had a variety of interests that he shared with family members. He is a licensed Private Pilot and had owned an airplane for several years. He would often take his family on airplane trips to dinner or just to grab some ice cream. He enjoyed shotgun sports. He was a member of the Cherokee Pilots Association, and the National Sporting Clay Association. He also enjoyed woodcarving, and was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association. In addition, he enjoyed boating, camping and traveling. Gerald traveled with his wife to 48 states of the USA, missing are Delaware and Hawaii. Travels also included 25 countries in Europe, Asia and North America.
Although his life included various interests and hobbies, he said that nothing ever approached the joy and satisfaction of being a part of the interests of his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is particularly proud and supportive of the educational accomplishments of his family of ten adults and five great grandchildren. There are four Associate degrees, seven Bachelor degrees, three Master degrees, and associated licenses. Great grandchildren are already receiving special awards and recognitions - including one recommended black belt in Taekwondo.
Also surviving are two children, a daughter Christa (David) Matusik of West Lafayette, and a son Shawn (Renee) Dunfee of Wesley Chapel, FL.
