COSHOCTON - Gerald L. "Gary" Eick, 76, of 777 S. 2nd Street died May 28, 2010 at the Coshocton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Coshocton to the late Lloyd and Melba (Maxwell) Eick.
He was employed for 28 years at the former Shaw-Barton Co. in Coshocton. He was the former owner/operator of the Mug N Jug and a dairy farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving at Ft. Benning, GA, a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the AMVETS. He was also an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Friederike (Bemfert) Hawthorne Eick, whom he married June 14, 1980. Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Steve) Urbanovitch of California and Kandy (Jim) Sampsel of Fresno. Step children, Michael (Cindy) Hawthorne of San Diego, Thomas (Patty) Hawthorne of Coshocton, and Kristy Hawthorne of Newark. 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A sister, Arlene (Skeet) Mayhew of Newcomerstown, a brother, Greg (Mona) Eick of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Freeman, and four brothers, Richard, Robert, Arthur, and infant Milo.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw with Pastor Charles Warren officiating. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Keene United Methodist Church 27100 CR 1 Keene, OH.
