Warsaw- Gerald W. Lonsinger, 81, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Tiverton Township to the late F. Raymond and Gertrude (Potes) Lonsinger. Mr. Lonsinger was retired as a dairy farmer. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1945. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and was trained as a telegraph operator. On Dec. 12, 1948, he married Nancy Jane Lowe, who passed away in 1997. He was an active member of Ohio Farm Bureau and Walhonding Grange. He was instrumental in compiling a Warsaw High School alumni history. He enjoyed fishing and square dancing.
Mr. Lonsinger is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Nancy Lonsinger of Warsaw; two daughters, Diana Swigert (companion Paul Marlatt) of Coshocton and Susan Lonsinger of Utica; three grandsons, Hans Lonsinger, Andrew Fabrizio and Steven Fabrizio, one granddaughter, Kate Lonsinger; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Jeanette Lonsinger of Warsaw ; and one sister, Betty Whelan of Dresden. He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Clyde Lonsinger and Bernard Lonsinger; one sister, Maude Ware, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Wayne Harman officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warsaw Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, 230 Cherry St., Warsaw, OH 43844, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
