Marblehead - Virginia E. "Ginny" Hoover, 94, a 90 year resident of Danville, Ohio, passed peacefully on October 8, 2015, at the Otterbein North Shore Assisted Living Facility.
She was born August 24, 1921, in Danville, the daughter of Walter and Verna (McMillan) McDougale. She married Alva E. Hoover in 1946, who preceded her in death on May 25, 1999. They owned and operated the Hoover Turkey Farm on Flat Run Road.
Mrs. Hoover, a 1939 graduate of Danville High School, was a homemaker and also worked for the Danville Local Schools as a cafeteria server and later, for ten years, as a Foster Grandparent, where she became known as "Grandma Ginny". She was an avid local sports enthusiast. She also enjoyed gardening, movies, playing euchre, cooking and sewing and most especially tutoring and sharing her wisdom with Danville Elementary School children.
Surviving are her son, Michael L. (Pamela) Hoover of Port Clinton; two grandchildren, Brooke A. (Benjamin) Gettler of Miami, Florida, and Gregory L. (Kelly) Hoover of Cincinnati, and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Ron Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 9:30 until service time.
