Mount Vernon - Glenn W. Pipes, 89, formerly of Woods Church Rd. Walhonding, died Saturday October 25, 2008 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

He was born October 28, 1918 in Knox County to the late Carl and Clara (Beckley) Pipes. On November 17, 1940, he was married to Edna (Johns). He was a member of the Bladensburg Church of Christ, Lodge #199, the Harrison Grange, and also The Shriners of Columbus.

Glenn is survived by daughters; Marjorie (Jack) Raines of Utica, Kathy (Dennis) Ankrum of St. Louisville, and Kristy (Kevin) Oldaker of Bladensburg, grandchildren; Ronald (Alyson) Raines, Kendra (Bill) Ross, Heidi (Wendell) Dindial, Tyler Weaver, Andy and Christopher Oldaker, Hollie (Jesse) Peden, Jeff (Jessica) Hazen, Jill (Jared) Calkins, and Jenny and Grant Ankrum, great grandchildren; Delaney Raines, Billy and Dustin Ross, Dylan and Kiera Dindial, Kaleb Peden, and Kodie Lynn Hazen, a brother; Gordon (Vi) Pipes of Florida, and a sister-in-law; Joyce Pipes of New Philadelphia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years; Edna, a brother; Paul Pipes, and a sister; Lucille Evans.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Ohio Eastern Star Home, 1451 Gambier Rd. Mount Vernon, on Sunday November 2, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Ben McKinstry officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Knox County; 17700 Coshocton Rd. Mount Vernon, 43050, or to a charity of your preference. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is assisting with arrangements.
