Leesburg, FL – Gloria Fellers, 87, formerly of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Florida.
She was born July 8, 1930 in Bowling Green, the daughter of Forest S. and Glaudwin E. (Tarrh) Fellers. She attended Tiverton local school, and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1948. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1952 with her Bachelors Degree, and in 1953, she earned her Masters. Gloria went on to obtain a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in Canada in 1963.
She held positions as a clinical psychologist at the Toledo State Hospital, Massillon State Hospital, and the Northwest Guidance Center in Lima, the Chief Psychologist at Royal Ottawa Hospital, Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa Canada, and Adjunct Professor at NEOUCOM in Rootstown before retiring from Massillon State Hospital in 1997.
Her hobbies included Bridge, golf, traveling, and breeding Basenji dogs. She also belonged to the L’Arche and Pilot Club of Ottawa, and the Massillon Womens Club.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, her brother Robert W. Fellers, and a niece, Patricia Blanchard.
Surviving are her sister, Shirley Blanchard of Flat Rock, Michigan, a niece, Llara Weaver of Umatilla, FL, a great nephew, 2 great nieces, 2 great-great nieces, and several cousins.
There are no services. A private interment will be held at Tiverton Cemetery. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is assisting with arrangements.
