BLUFFTON - Goldie Iola Prudence Lawson, 92, a resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton and formerly of Danville, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at the home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1918 in Glenmont to the late William Howard L. and Myrtle Christina (Jones) Mullet.
Goldie had a servant's heart and was a caregiver most of her life, while being an advocate for the mentally handicapped. She was a longtime member of the Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge, OH.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancelee (Roger) Smith of Bluffton. Granddaughter, Wendy (Jon) Souzis of Groveport. Grandsons, Scott (Heather) Smith of Geneva, IL and Eric (Brittany) Smith of Upland, IN. Great grandchildren, Abby & Anna Souzis, Brady, Avery , & Nora Smith, & Jack, Audrey, & William Smith, and a niece, Barbara Ann Mullet Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Lawson, who she married Mar. 16, 1946, he died Mar. 8, 2000. Also preceding her in death was her son, David Lawson, and a brother, Alvin "Tim" Mullet.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Clifford Beck and Harrison Underwood officiating. Burial will be in the Workman Cemetery at Danville. Visitation is from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
