Gregory Magers

HOWARD- Gregory Magers, 68, peacefully passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 surrounded by family after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 20, 1955 to Harold L. and Marilyn J. (Durbin) Magers. On May 3, 1986 Greg married the love of his life, Pamela (Forster) Magers, and together had two children, Joelle and Steve. Greg was a true family man, and nothing lit up his world quite like his grandkids. They were his absolute pride and joy, and he was always happiest when he was with them, especially on the farm.

Anyone who knew Greg knew he a had a fiery passion for farming and was an integral part of the Knox County farming community, holding many positions including Knox County Soil and Water Conservation (SWCD) - District Supervisor, District 3 Area SWCD - Director, and Knox County Agricultural Museum - President. He was also a member of the St. Luke’s Knights of Columbus.  He was a retired truck driver of over 30 years.

Greg is survived by his wife, Pam Magers of Howard; his daughter & son-in-law, Joelle & Trey Flowers; son & daughter-in-law, Steven & Julia (Foster) Magers; four grandchildren, Makenzie, Harper, & Charlie Flowers, and Daxton Magers; his mother, Marilyn Magers; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip & Cynthia (Colopy) Magers, and Daniel & Anna-marie (Perkins) Magers; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia & Rick Moore, and Joyce Frazee; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Magers; a sister, Christine Egan; father-in-law & mother-in--law, Robert & Kathryn Forster; and two brothers-in-law, Todd Frazee and Kevin Egan.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 307 N. Market St. Danville, OH 43014, with burial to follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery. A meal will be provided at the conclusion of services. Visitation is Tuesday, March 26th from 5-8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m., as well as 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, Greg’s family is gathering contributions to assist with the significant medical expenses incurred from his emergency transport from Florida to Ohio. This support will directly help in managing the costs that have mounted over the past several weeks.
